A reason to choose local

They bought it in person. Now it needs to get home.

A shop owner preparing a parcel for a local courier handover
Prepared at your shop. Delivered to their door.

A customer finds what they need at your counter but cannot carry it home. Another orders by phone and asks whether you can send it across town. These are different journeys from an online checkout: the team needs to capture the destination, agree the delivery cost and keep the handover connected to the sale without losing focus on the next customer.

For Square POS merchants, the useful starting point is counter workflows, recipient contact details and who confirms the delivery before booking. A focused pilot should test the whole handover before it becomes a customer-facing promise.

Built around the way you sell

What a useful local workflow should solve

01

Give local customers another option

Same-day delivery can address purchases that ordinary shipping cannot get there in time for. Start by identifying the products and nearby customers for whom that would be useful.

02

Keep your team focused on the shop

A coordinated collection could help avoid ad hoc staff delivery runs. Agree who packs the order, where a driver would collect it and how readiness would be communicated.

03

Design for a clear customer experience

Plan how a Square POS sale would connect to the recipient, tracking and follow-up.

From order to handover

Deliver Square POS orders through the console.

A counter purchase does not need an online checkout to become a local delivery. While the native Square POS connection is planned, your staff can take the sale in Square and arrange the journey through the RentADriver console. The key is to capture a complete recipient address and agree the handover while the customer is still available.

  1. 01

Give staff a simple delivery conversation

Choose who can arrange deliveries and where parcels will wait for collection. For an in-person sale, ask where the goods need to go and who will receive them. For a phone order, repeat the address and contact details back to the customer before entering the request in the console.

    • Check coverage for the pickup and intended destination.
    • Agree who packs, books and hands over the parcel.
    • Keep accurate package information ready for the quote.
  2. 02

Confirm the sale and request a quote

Complete your normal payment checks in Square, then add the pickup, destination and package details in RentADriver. Review the quote before confirming the delivery arrangement with the customer. Keep the Square sale or receipt reference with your booking notes so the delivery can be matched to the transaction later.

    • Review the quote and available delivery funds before confirming.
    • Include access instructions that help the collection and handover.
    • Check existing bookings before submitting the same order again.
  3. 03

Hand over the parcel and keep the reference

Prepare and label the goods for collection, then follow the journey in the console. Share the tracking link with the customer through your agreed communication channel. Record the delivery reference in your normal sale notes or staff record; the manual workflow does not add a native Square delivery button or automatically update the receipt.

    • Use the tracking record to answer progress questions.
    • Keep any customer updates connected to the original purchase.
    • Contact support with the delivery reference when help is needed.

The customer fee and the delivery cost

The Square sale and the RentADriver delivery are separate transactions in this manual workflow. Review the quote, agree any customer charge through your normal sales process and confirm available delivery funds before booking.

Your next step

Help shape delivery for Square POS

Tell us what your shop needs. Your platform setup, location and typical orders help us understand whether a future integration would fit your business.

Have these details ready

  • Details of your Square POS setup and current order workflow
  • Your intended pickup location and delivery area
  • Typical products, parcel dimensions and handling requirements
  • A team member who can help evaluate a future pilot

Same-day delivery depends on service coverage, order eligibility, preparation time and driver availability. A quote is an estimate; review the terms and delivery details before booking.

Keep the day running smoothly

The details that make delivery easier.

The buyer is not the recipient

Collect the receiving person's address and contact details, plus any access instructions. Confirm who will be available to accept the goods rather than assuming the cardholder will be at the destination.

The counter gets busy

Assign one staff member to finish the booking and label the parcel. A visible reference helps the next colleague identify a driver collection without interrupting every person who handled the sale.

The customer leaves before plans are final

Agree the delivery charge and contact method before they go. If the quote or availability changes, contact them before making a new promise and use support for a delivery already underway.

Merchant questions

Before you get started

Can I connect Square POS today?

A native Square POS integration is not available for self-service setup. Register your interest to discuss the workflow you need and hear about testing when it opens.

Can I explore delivery before the connector launches?

You can check RentADriver coverage and discuss standalone booking or an API-based workflow with our team. Those are separate from a native platform integration and require their own setup.

What should I include in my enquiry?

Include your Square setup, location structure and the type of sale you want to deliver, your collection area and typical order sizes. Describe what should trigger delivery and where your team would need to see its progress.
